The story behind 1Home Touch
Dear 1Home Community,
Two and a half years ago, we launched what became one of the biggest milestones in our company’s history: the 1Home Server. Many of you believed in us before the product even existed in your homes. You pre-ordered it on faith - trusting us to deliver something meaningful.
And when the Server arrived, we didn’t stop there.
Over time, we built and released the 1Home App, IoT integrations to KNX, LUA scripting, Graphs, and KNX history and live monitoring - all for free, all delivered long after your purchase. That became our promise:
Those who believe in us early, always get more than expected.
Today, with over 20,000 Servers in homes across the world, we’re ready for our next chapter.
How we decided on our next step
For years, we heard the same message from the market:
“KNX is the best standard there is, but the UI controls and daily user experience feel outdated. 1Home should change that.”
You were right.
Most KNX innovation has lived inside panels and cabinets - powerful, but invisible. Meanwhile, homeowners want something modern, intuitive, and beautiful in the spaces they actually live in.
We’ve always been shaped by Apple Home, and that gave us a clear understanding of what “gold-standard” smart home experience really means. And we’ve always felt we’re the right team to bring that level of simplicity and elegance into the KNX world.
When we looked at our strengths—
creating software experiences that feel ahead of their time, and designing interfaces that make complex systems feel simple - the direction became obvious.
It was time to bring the 1Home experience out into your home.
That idea became 1Home Touch.

Shaped together with the community
From the very beginning, 1Home has always been about control interfaces that feel effortless.
We started with voice control.
Then came deep Apple Home integration.
Then our 1Home App.
Touch is the physical embodiment of everything we’ve learned:
simple, elegant, intuitive, powerful - made for everyone.
To make sure we weren’t building just another screen on the wall, we did what has always guided us best - we listened.
We conducted 50 one-on-one interviews with homeowners and integrators across 10 countries, each bringing unique setups, expectations, and ways of living with smart homes.
And beyond that, more than 1,000 people responded to our public survey, giving us unprecedented insight into what matters most in a daily-use control device.
We shared early designs.
We tested real interactions.
We redesigned, retested, and refined continuously.
We validated both the on-device experience and the configuration interface with real homes, real users, and real workflows.
Touch isn’t just a product we envisioned - it’s a product shaped directly by the 1Home community, both homeowners and integrators.
Project status
The development for the 1Home Touch is well under way.
- The hardware platform is ready and it is powerful enough that you could comfortably watch movies on it. And the viewing angle is also great no matter if you look at it from the front, side or the top. The touch responsiveness feels instant, smooth, and premium. To make sure the device delivers not just great performance but true long-term reliability, we put it through extensive hardware stress tests - like running the unit periodically between -10°C to +40 °C in an oven for three days straight and pushing it until we find exactly how much it can endure. These tests help us understand real-world longevity and ensure the final product is built to last.
- The designs and user experience of both controls and configuration was heavily tested with homeowners and integrators from the 1Home community, and we are happy to report most can't wait to get the 1Home Touch in their hands.
- The last remaining milestone is to finish the software development. Our engineers are hard at work to make it happen.
All this considered, we are estimating the 1Home Touch will be ready to ship in the Summer 2026.
