1Home App: A Deep Dive
We launched the 1Home app last year because we realised that to deliver the cutting-edge features we envision - on our terms and timeline - we could no longer rely on Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa & co. to keep up with our pace and innovation.
While we still believe these platforms are great for features like voice control and geofencing, we’re convinced that the default way to control your smart home should be through the 1Home app.
And here are the reasons why!
First up:
No additional hubs required
Compared to other smart home apps, 1Home mobile app doesn't require any additional hubs for it to work besides the 1Home hardware that you already own.
It connects to your 1Home device locally and can work without internet, while still enabling you remote access while you are away from your home.
When using the remote connection, the data only passes through our cloud servers and is not in any way processed or stored there.
Centralized control over all your devices
You can use the 1Home App to control all of the smart home devices that are connected to your 1Home hardware - KNX, Matter, Loxone, or even all combined!

Monitoring data from KNX
With the introduction of Generic KNX device support you can display useful information from your KNX system in the 1Home App.
This includes:
- Energy metering & consumption
- Wind speed
- Rain and other sensors
- Diagnostic messages

Powerful custom scenes
Scenes are a crucial part of any self-respecting smart home, and are a way to call up a specific ambient within your smart home such as for Cinema Time, Evening, Cooking and more. You can trigger scenes both from the 1Home Mobile App as well as from 1Home Automations.
For optimal workflow of both integrator and homeowner, we have created a unique approach for creating scenes. They can be created and edited in two ways:
- By the home owner within the 1Home Mobile App - a more basic approach
- By the integrator directly in the 1Home web dashboard - advanced Scenes that can also leverage 1Home Automations
Configure a scene in 1Home Mobile App
Home owner can add and edit scenes directly from the 1Home Mobile App, as shown on the screengrabs below.
Another way to create scenes is with a “what you see is what you get” approach. When you are selecting devices to be included in a scene, they are automatically set to their current values. This means that you can also set the desired ambient in the room, then add a scene - thus “saving” your current desert ambient in the room without any further configuration required.

In the web dashboard, you can access all the power of 1Home Scenes, by leveraging the capabilities of the 1Home Automations engine while configuring your scenes.
